Description

AMPUTATE BAG: Field of Application

During severe accidents it sometimes happens that parts of the human body are dismembered.

Often physicians can re-attach = re-implant those amputated parts to the body.

Necessary conditions for the success are that the dismembered parts are preserved in the best possible way and transported into the hospital.

Preserved in the best possible way means that the amputate is brought into the microsurgery

a) cooled (but not frozen), and
b) without additional germs.

The AMPUTATE BAG is a double-walled bag, consisting of two sterile bags (first inside the second, sealed together) which allows cooling substances between the two bags, without direct contact between coolant and amputate.

AMPUTATE-BAG: Description

There are three sizes of AMPUTATE-BAGs :

size S (HAND) height: 12 inch width:10 inch
size M (ARM) height: 27 inch width: 10 inch
size L (LEG) height: 43 inch width: 16 inch

The sketch shows the principle of the AMPUTATE BAG .

'Aufbewahrungskammer' means 'storage chamber' = 'inner bag to contain the amputate'

'Kühlkammer' means 'coolant chamber' = 'outer bag to contain ice and water to cool'

Der Replantatbeutel

Our AMPUTATE BAG consists of an outer bag and an inner bag, both made from a pliable, but still very resistant plastic film which is biocompatible. Four strings in seams at the open side of both bags ('red' for the inner bag, 'green' for the outer bag) allow to close the bags separately, fast and tight.

The AMPUTATE-BAG is in an multilayer plastic pouch and sterilized with gamma rays.

The amputate is put into the sterile inner storage chamber which is surrounded by the outer coolant chamber.

In other words: The amputate is cooled without direct contact to the coolant.

Our fabrication is certified under ISO 13485:2007, valid until 2014.
